Communities
At ScotAsh we aim to be a good neighbour to the local community through managing the impacts of our presence, such as road traffic and supporting local suppliers, charities, organisations and projects.
We engage with the local community through Longannet Power Station's Local Liaison Committee, which provides a two-way forum for discussion, and through our relationship with Kincardine Community Council. However, we are happy to speak to any local resident who contacts us with a query or problem.
Wherever possible, we purchase goods and services locally to support the regional economy.
We have a policy of encouraging staff volunteering and requests for support from local organisations and charities are considered by an employee committee and approved by the Board.
During the last few years our key contribution has been on-going sponsorship, in association with Longannet Power Station and other contractors, of a community police vehicle, which serves 17 villages in the West Fife community.
We have donated £1,000 to the Children's Hospice Association of Scotland for the last two years as a way of marking our third and fourth accident-free years.
