Health and Safety
ScotAsh is committed to effective Health & Safety Management. We operate a Health & Safety Management System accredited to OHSAS 18001 and undertake regular safety audits, including behavioural safety tours and risk assessments.
We aim to involve all employees in maintaining a strong health & safety culture through on-going training and recognising and rewarding employee suggestions on preventing accidents and ill-health and further improving health and safety on site.
In November 2006 we achieved four years without a Lost Time Accident.
To promote and maintain safe working conditions for employees, contractors and members of the public, our safety management policy includes the following principles:
- Providing all employees with appropriate levels of information, skills training and supervision to enable safe working
- Conducting risk assessments and reviews, to identify hazards and eliminate or reduce risks
- Ensuring plant, machinery and equipment is safe and well-maintained to enable safe use, handling, storage and transport of materials
