Update on projects and sales

The first phase of ScottishPower's Black Law windfarm at Forth in Lanarkshire is now complete, writes Technical Sales Manager Chris Bennett.

ScotAsh supplied 5,403 tonnes of Trojan cement to the project, which is the largest to receive consent in Scotland to date.

A total of 42 turbines have now been erected, with a combined capacity of 97 MW. The windfarm will have a capacity of 143 MW when the final phase is completed.

Trojan cement offers a lower heat of hydration and so is ideal for the large bases of the wind turbines, plus, of course, it is environmentally friendly.

Supplies for Port Glasgow project

ScotAsh is supplying more than 45,000 tonnes of PFA to the new Gallagher Retail Park currently under development at Port Glasgow.

The material is being used as a lightweight fill material to stabilise poor ground and also for a road embankment.

The development is scheduled for completion in 2006.
