CHAS Benefits from 4-YEAR LTA Milestone
ScotAsh achieved four years without a
Lost Time Accident at the end of
November. And for the second year in a
row staff voted to mark the milestone by
donating £1,000 to the Children's Hospice
Association Scotland (CHAS)
CHAS runs Scotland's two children's hospices, Rachel House in Kinross and Robin House in Balloch, which offer respite care for families from all over Scotland who have children suffering from life threatening illnesses.
Professional staff at the hospices, including nurses and physiotherapists, supported by volunteers, offer round-theclock care for seriously ill children during short stays, giving parents and other family members a much-needed rest. The charity also runs the Rachel House at Home service which supports children and their families in their own homes in the Highlands.
Volunteer fund-raiser Garson Gillies, who accepted the cheque on behalf of CHAS, said: "Congratulations to the team at ScotAsh on their excellent safety achievement - and a heartfelt thanks from all at CHAS for this generous donation.
"It costs the charity almost £5 million each year to run Rachel House, Robin House and the Rachel House at Home service and most of that money comes from donations. The £1,000 cheque from ScotAsh will be put to good use helping very sick children and their families from across Scotland."
