Product Sales Top One Million Tonne Mark
Sales of ScotAsh products topped the million tonne mark at the end of November, setting a new record for the company.
A total of 1,041,526 tonnes of products were sold in the period from January to November 20 07, including well over 100,000 tonnes of cementitious products - double ScotAsh's target for the year.
Managing Director Peter Quinn (below) said: "This is an excellent result. Despite a difficult start to 2007, when the collapse of the coal conveyor at Longannet Power Station and consequent road closures meant it was difficult to get products out, we've beaten our targets. My thanks go to all the team for their efforts."
ScotAsh is manufacturing more cement than ever before for parent company Lafarge, supplying projects such as Whitelee windfarm near Glasgow, a new helipad at the Mid Argyll Hospital in Lochgilphead, a railway s tation at Markinch and sulphur tanks for Longa n n e t Power Station's FGD project.
Our products are also being used at ScottishPower Renewable Energy's Greenknowes windfarm and wastewater treatment plants at Glen Devon, Auchterarder - and Torridon where, due to the terrain, the cement was shipped in by helicopter.
Through Lafarge we are also supplying cement for improvements to Ballinluig junction on the A9 south of Pitlochry.
Our EN450 product is being used in the pumphouse and dam face at Scottish and Southern Energy's Glendoe Hydroelectric project. The product was specified due to its low heat of hydration.
ScotAsh grouts are being used to overcome poor ground conditions in roads projects at Castlecary Arches on the A80 and at Bowtrees roundabout on the approach to Kincardine Bridge. Our grouts are also being used in groundworks at the new Upper Forth Crossing, Kirkcaldy Hospital and in a water tunnel for United Utilities at Barrow in Furness.
