Peak Performers
Peter McAusalan, Lafarge Cement UK's Finance Director, said that ScotAsh winning not one, but two Queen's Awards in three years, had made the senior management team at Lafarge very proud.
"With a Queen's Award for Innovation and now Sustainable Development, ScotAsh has reached a pinnacle of achievement."
Peter stressed that as well as significant environmental benefits, ScotAsh had also succeeded in its ability to create markets, make money, provide employment and contribute to the local economy.
He said: "The successful business established here at ScotAsh is now being replicated around the UK.
"Under (former ScotAsh MD) Nigel Cooke's guidance, we are establishing operations at Aberthaw and West Burton power stations that are incorporating the same advanced technology used here at ScotAsh.
"The success of these operations and the benefits it brings to the Lafarge Group in helping us meet our sustainability ambitions means it is only a matter of time, I believe, until we see a similar model adopted in rapidly developing economies, such as China and India."
Peter (above right) acknowledged ScottishPower's commitment to ScotAsh, particularly Ron Hunter's contribution in making the joint venture such a success.
He said: "I wish to thank our partners ScottishPower and the many individuals and organisations that have contributed to ScotAsh's success.
"Most of all, I would like to congratulate Peter and every member of the team here at ScotAsh on once again receiving the most prestigious business award in the UK."
