It's a big boost for Sunday league side Alloa Espartinas, who are playing their first full season in the Forth Valley Welfare League.

ScotAsh stepped in to help after a request from employee Louis Caine (right), who plays as a striker for Espartinas.

ScotAsh MD Peter Quinn agreed the company would kit out the side.

He said: "Sport at local level contributes to the health and well-being of communities, yet it can be difficult for small clubs like Espartinas to raise the funding they need to keep going.

"We were pleased to help by sponsoring the strips as part of our community support programme and wish the team every success in the season ahead."

Espartinas, who take their name from Alloa's twin town in Spain, were only formed last year and team secretary David Symon was grateful for ScotAsh's help.

The club have 24 registered players, mostly from Clackmannanshire and Stirling. They train twice a week at Fishcross and play their games at West End Park, Alloa.

David said: "ScotAsh have been brilliant with us and have supplied full home kits for the squad. The strips are first class and make a real difference.

"We were formed just to give people a chance to play football and we've a good bunch of guys," said David. "Last year was a big learning curve for us but we've kept the core of the side together, we're getting a few results and, with ScotAsh's sponsorship, things are looking up for Espartinas."
