Sika Products
ScotAsh manufactures a range of products for materials specialist Sika UK Limited, under a toll blending agreement.
These include:
SikaPave NF®
Sika Duracrete® VF
Sikacrete ® Powerpack (UK)
SikaPave NF®
The SikaPave NF Paving System is used for laying and grouting setted roadways or pavements. It is the successor to the Sika Trojan Paving System, which was used in a number of high profile public realm projects in Edinburgh, Dundee and Belfast.
SikaPave NF is a mixture of cementitious material, including PFA, along with microsilica and admixtures. It can be used for new build or refurbishment and obviates the use of bedding mortar and bonding bridges.
The technique involves laying the setts on a bedding sub-base of single-sized aggregate. Before grouting, the gaps between the setts are filled with single-sized aggregate.
The grout passes into the aggregate layer and bonds efficiently with the sub-base, creating a monolithic structural system.
After applying the grout a curing agent such as Sika ProSeal W® is applied to the surface to ensure the grout reach its designed performance.
Sika Duracrete® VF
Sika Duracrete® VF is a high flow cementitious grout that is used to create Flexicrete - a unique system for roads, floors and hardstandings that combines the strength of cementitious materials with the flexibility of asphalt.
The high strength, free flowing Sika Duracrete VF grout is simply flooded across freshly laid open graded asphalt, and due to its unique highly fluid properties, it penetrates the voids of the open graded asphalt layer.
The grout has a fast strength development. When applied to asphalt the Sika Flexicrete system enables floors, roads and other traffic areas to be restored into service 24 to 48 hours after application.
Typically a 40mm layer of open textured asphalt is grouted using Sika Duracrete VF by recommended specialist contractors.
Flexicrete surfaces can be coloured, or polished for interior use, and large areas can be laid joint-free for easy cleaning. The density of the topping material makes it impermeable and therefore resistant to ingress from water or other liquids and staining.
Sikacrete ® Powerpack (UK)
Sikacrete Powerpack (UK) is a modified concrete additive in powder form based on a highly reactive pozzolanic materials (including PFA/microsilica) and stabilisers designed to produce high quality concrete.
Sikacrete Powerpack (UK) is particularly suitable for concrete that needs to be chemical resistant, will be exposed to aggressive atmospheres or abrasion and for high strength mixes. It is designed for use in conjunction with a superplasticiser from the Sika Sikament and Viscocrete range.
Typical uses include structures for the marine and water industries, flooring and silos for the farming, food processing and chemical industries, and any concrete structure that will be exposed to heavy wear and tear, pollution, erosion or abrasion.
Sikacrete Powerpack improves the wet properties of the concrete, such as cohesion, bond and water efficiency. The highly active pozzolanic material reacts with the free lime produced by the hydration of the cement to improve the strength, density and durability of the concrete.
Benefits include:
- Increased early strength
- Increased final strength
- Increased impermeability to liquids
- Increased impermeability to gases
- Reduced chloride penetration
- Reduced alkali silica reaction in aggregates
- Increased resistance to freeze/thaw cycle
- Increased resistance to abrasion
