Trojan Cements
Our Trojan cements generally contain between 21% and 35% PFA or fly ash. Our primary product is Trojan T27, which contains 27% PFA and has been designed to optimise performance in terms of workability and long term durability, without compromising early strength.
Quality
ScotAsh's Trojan cement meets the requirements of BS EN 197-1 for CEM II A/B-V and CEM IV A/B cements. Trojan cements also meet the requirements of BS 6610 and our Trojan T27 meets the requirements of 42.5N cement.
Uses and Benefits
Blended PFA-based cements can be used in virtually any application where Portland cement would normally be used.
As PFA is a pozzolana, reacting with free lime liberated from the hydration of Portland cement to form additional cementitious hydrates, it continues to gain strength with time. Trojan cements offer a lower heat of hydration, reduced shrinkage and creep and are resistant to sulfate attack and reduced chloride ingress.
Recommended Construction Uses of PFA-based Blended Cements
Excellent |
Potentially alkali-reactive aggregates |
Good |
Air-entrained concrete |
Use with care |
In high early strength applications unless hydration is accelerated by increasing temperature |
Trojan blended cements are also used for:
- Mortars for the laying and grouting of granite setts in roads and pavements
- As a hydraulic binder in foamed bitumen Macadam
- As cementitious content in grout for mine void filling
- To provide cementitious content in concrete blocks
